RAVE- a myth busted.

I thought that may be we should first break the cage named 'myth' in which the term "rave" has lost its true meaning. The current definition brings to a person's mind drugs and rich spoil brats, police and caught people. But it was not so till the 1980s.

In the late 1980s, the word "rave" was adopted to describe the subculture grew out of the acid house movement. That a certain number of rave party attendees used "club drugs" such as MDMA, LSD, cocaine, amphetamines and, more recently, ketamine, and was taken by authorities as a pretext to ban those parties altogether.

Actually, this term is a lot older than 80s and to define it in wikipedia's language-

In late 1950s London, the term "rave" was used to describe the "wild bohemian parties" of the Soho beatnik underground. The word was later used in the burgeoning mod youth culture of the early 1960s as the way to describe any wild party in general.

RAVE means wildness. A party full of enthusiasm; joy unbounded. Our RAVE is the reflection or rather a resonance of the earlier rave of the 50s.

What is Rave??

Now, do not think that I am some mad man on loose. I know all about the RAVE parties and stuff (who don't know not to worry, I'll tell you guys). I am going to tell you guys about RAVE- a festival. A grand celebration of love, laughter, enjoyment, in short a celebration of youth. A campus festival of Saharanpur campus.

I know what you are thinking, Saharanpur campus?? Campus of what? Well, it is a campus of IIT-Roorkee. We are a part of the lineage called IITians. But enough about this, let me tell you a few things about our RAVE.

Starting two years ago it has seen just one life which was full of life, energy and above all madness. Madness which started brewing in the hearts of the students and then filled everything around them. Madness which emerged from our soul and replenished every person who came with their quota of joy. This madness, this fun is coming back with all the vigor and more. The madness increases, the fun doubles (no triples). In fact, I will let all of you decide the fun-factor if I may call it so.

This blog will tell all you guys and gals about what we have done and what we have up our sleaves this time.
